Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V. (KAS) is a German political foundation active in the fields of governance, parliamentary support, rule of law, human rights protection, civil society development, free media promotion, decentralisation and local democracy promotion. Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V. operates two education centres and 18 education institutes throughout Germany. Around the world, in more than 80 countries, branch offices are set up to coordinate and implement projects in co-operation with local partners in more than 200 countries with an annual budget of approximately 100 million euros. The standard minimum duration of the projects is 3 years; on average, they last 9–12 years. The projects focus on the following areas: promotion of democracy and the rule of law; development policy, human rights, migration; civic education; development of civil society; assistance for administrative and legal reforms; promotion of an independent and pluralistic media landscape; poverty alleviation based on the principle of self-help. KAS is member of the European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP).
