The involvement by the University of Sheffield will be co-ordinated by the Faculty of Social Sciences Migration Research Group. The Migration Research Group (MRG) is an interdisciplinary network of scholars conducting world-leading and high impact research on global migration and mobility. Its approach is informed by a broad understanding of migration encompassing motives for migration, effects on sending and destination countries, as well as the broad range of impacts (legal, social, economic and political) and experiences of migration in various geographical regions. Current research is supported by prestigious awards from funding organisations including the European Research Council and the UK Economic and Social Research Council. The Faculty of Social Sciences has a longstanding reputation for delivering world class research that addresses the major challenges facing society with research that leads academic debates internationally and shapes policy and practice across the globe. The impact of research is exemplary and is recognised by national research council prizes and international awards.
